Dr. Workayehu Kebede is a former Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology both at Gondar and Addis Ababa University Medical Schools where he had served over a decade in the academic and clinical service aspect of eye health care. During those periods, he was engaged in the training of eye health care professionals both at postgraduate and undergraduates level.

Biography

Dr. Workayehu Kebede had his subspecialty training in Neuro-ophthalmology at the Michigan State University, USA. Besides his extensive local experience in research, teaching, and clinical service in the country he was also engaged in a lot of international collaborative researches, skill and knowledge exchange programs, and fellowships. In 2002 he was a fellow at Cornell University Medical School, New York-Presbyterian Hospital, where he pursues fellowship in ocular AIDS and clinical management of HIV/AID

In 2011 he was a visiting fellow at Hospital ophtalmique, Jules-Gonin institute of ophthalmology, Lausanne, Switzerland.

Later he joins the European school for advanced study in Ophthalmology (ESASO) where he did a modular skill exchange course in Advancement of sub-specialties areas of eye health care at various ESASO affiliated institutions in Europe. Medical retina, at the University of Ankara, Turkey, Oculo-plastics, and orbital surgery at the University of Malta, Valentine, Glaucoma at the University of Swiss Italy, Lugano, Switzerland.

He has served at various international bodies and committees for the advancement of education, research in eye health care. He was a member of the peer review committee for the America Journal of Ophthalmology. On various occasions has served as a member of the international committee for curriculum review and development at the International Council of Ophthalmology, Germany.

In the last few years, he has dedicated his time and resources into the development of the concept and project plan to establishing state of the art eye health care institution in the country where later he undertook joint effort among former colleagues in materializing the idea and established “ the Eye health care expert associates PLC to which the Current ROHA clinic is a subsidiary”.

Currently, he is the Founder and General Manager of the ROHA Specialized Eye Clinic.

Publications

He has published and contributed many scientific articles at both local and international scientific journals. He was a contributing editor for 2010 edition of “The textbook of Neurologic clinic, USA”
